Simply speaking, Photoshop actions are a series of steps that have been recorded by the creator. This sequence of steps is saved as a .ATN file type and these steps can be reapplied anytime so that you can use it to recreate the end-result easily and quickly. You don’t need to go through all individual steps to create beautiful images. Therefore, Photoshop actions are the shortcut and useful tools to modify and create a professional image. You can apply these actions on wedding photos, product images, adventure photos, family photos, fashion photos, magazine cover, etc.
How to install / load Photoshop Actions?
Step 1:
First, you need to download the Photoshop CC actions files and saved them on the PC or Mac. You can create a folder for the same or keep it easy to find a place in your system.
Step 2:
If a saved file is in a zip folder, you will need an unzipping software and directly extract the zip file by right click your mouse and select ‘Extract All’ to extract the .atn files to your destination folder.
If the file you download is in an unzipped format or with .atn extension, this Photoshop action file is ready to be used and installed in Photoshop.
It is always good to create a backup of action files if the installed actions get corrupted or lost due to any system malfunction so that you can reinstall them.
Step 3:
After you locate the downloaded ATN. Files. Open Photoshop and open ‘Action’ palette in the ‘window’ option. Make sure the ‘Actions’ option is selected.
Step 4:
Go to the top-right corner with lines in the ‘action’ palette, click that and you will find a drop-down menu.
Step 5: Click Load Actions.
Step 6:
Afterward, browse the folder or location where you have saved the .atn files. Click on the action that you want to install and then click on open.
